Growing evidence indicates the importance of charisma on leadership. It is the common feature of personalities such as John F. Kennedy, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Steve Jobs, Margaret Thatcher, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.

The following are some of the most prominent characteristics of charismatic leadership:

  • Confidence
  • Having a strong compelling vision
  • The ability to describe the mentioned vision
  • Believing in goals and ideals
  • And a desire for making fundamental change.

It seems that having charisma is an innate personality trait. However recent evidence, confirms otherwise. Every human being can acquire the attribute of charisma through education. Here you can find some ways in which you can enhance the attribute of charisma by adopting them:

  • Express an active, powerful and confident presence. Be self-confident. The importance of eye contact is necessary. Speak clearly, try not to stutter; Do not interrupt your sentences with “umm, actually or for example”.
  • Consider a clear, agreeable vision and an enthusiastic goal for future. Talk to others about your perspective. The achieving method of your goal must be innovative and appropriate to the subject.
  • Talk about your high expectations of others’ performance as well as your confidence in their ability to meet expectations. Set ambitious goals for others and inspire your team to be creative and show that you believe in them.

Studies show that it is to be learned by taking the following three steps:

  • Create the preconditions for charisma, be Empathetic.
  • Motivate others to accompany and follow you by being attractive and appealing to them.
  • Develop other people’s talent by arousing their emotions.

The lesson to be learned from this topic:

Although many people instinctively are charismatic, we can learn to be charismatic through education.
