One of the signs of successful organizations is the importance that accountability has among the employees. Accountability is a delicate subject, and all organizations expect it from their employees.
The concept of organizational accountability is slightly different from governmental accountability. When people say that one politician should be held accountable for his actions, they are in fact saying that the mentioned politician is to blame and should be punished for his actions. But accountability in the organization is not like being punished or blamed. Accountability means being responsible for good and bad results. It means finding solutions to problems and using information to improve future results. It is beneficial because it focuses on future results.
At work, the need for accountability in various areas such as responsibilities, following organizational and security procedures and guidelines, privacy, and … is essential.
There are two issues in the field of job duties and commitments.
Firstly, employees should be responsible for their performance to bosses, supervisors and other employees if needed.
Secondly, accountability to customers should be spread throughout the organization.
Some employees are in direct contact with customers and are more aware of the impact of this responsibility culture on customer satisfaction, however, some employees work in other departments and have less interaction with customers, but they can increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness by performing their duties well and giving appropriate responses to their colleagues in common areas of work, and ultimately guide the organization in achieving its goals.
By emphasizing concepts such as responsibility and accountability, we can continue to create a positive mental image for customers. According to British politician Churchill, responsibility is the price for being great.
