The people in society, and especially employees within an organization, tend to be attracted to the news that is interesting to them. During these times, they may not thoroughly analyze the news and instead rely on others for information. This creates an environment where rumors can quickly emerge and spread.
Currently, many organizations are in difficulty by rumors in various fields. While most managers are concerned about this situation, they seem unable to prevent the occurrence and spread of rumors.
One major factor contributing to this issue is organizational culture: Organizational culture is a set of agreed values that shows what employees can do and how they should do it. Rumors fall under the category of organizational anti-citizenship behaviors, which are influenced by organizational culture. The top management team plays a significant role in shaping organizational culture, which is a key factor in the formation of rumors.
The second factor is organizational justice. This can be divided into distributive justice, which is related to to resource distribution, and procedural justice, which involves how the management team interacts with different types of employees within the organization. Both forms of justice have a significant impact on anti-citizen behaviors such as generating rumors and it is also the main booster for it.
Isn’t it the time to examine the current state of justice in our organization from the two mentioned dimensions? Are all employees, who play almost the same role in success and failure of the organization being treated in a similar way?

Job stress is the third factor: Occupational stress, according to the experts, is influenced by an individual’s perception of their work environment and the pressures they face. For example, the conflict between the facilities and other people’s demands can be stressful. It seems that new rules and regulations introduced within organizations can contribute to a stressful work environment. In another word, all crisis indicators can be seen as the current state of the organization. All these factors seems enough to create a stressful work environment for people in the organization.Lack of transparency within the system is the forth factor that can be stated in this regard: Increased transparency leads to a better communication and as a result reduces the likelihood of rumors generation. How do you evaluate your organization situation regarding the transparency factor? In my opinion there is a minimum of transparency and maximum of ambiguity in the current situation.Human resource problems is the fifth factor of spreading rumors within an organization: If a service compensation system is designed in a way that there is an acceptable level of rationality and logic, there will be no reason that all colleagues cannot be aware of the performance evaluation score of others. What is the reason that colleagues shouldn’t know each other’s performance evaluations, compensation systems, and financial issues? We know that nowadays in most leading companies, the list of bonuses received by people from the top management team and the board of directors to all employees in different levels is being published every year. Last wordRumor is creeping, fast and floating. It may be possible to prevent it’s generation by identifying the causes and factors, but definitely if it starts, it cannot be prevented from spreading. If we look at the discussed topics and other experiences related to rumors, we will understand that rumors are the consequences of our actions. We all agree on the destructive effects of rumors, but what is the condition of the organizational culture, organizational justice, level of stress and tension in the work environment, level of transparency in the system and human resources systems, which are the most important factors and causes that create the necessary platform for the occurrence of rumors? What is the reason we reached this level of rumors today?
